The Wildbienenhof is a species and nature conservation initiative founded by German immigrants who have settled in the Apuseni Mountains in the Romanian Western Carpathians. What unites them all is a love of nature and a desire to give something back to their new home in the “German Settlement Area of the Apuseni Mountains.
This is also urgently needed, because although the Apuseni Mountains are described as an untouched natural idyll with incredible biodiversity, ecocide and species extinction have long since arrived here as well. Particularly affected by this is the historic cultural landscape, where the villages blend harmoniously into a landscape characterized by small plots of land with orchard meadows, pastures, and strips of wild hedgerows.
This species-rich cultural landscape, with its biotopes worthy of protection, is under threat.
And with it, the habitat for countless mammals, birds, insects, reptiles, and amphibians.
